Chorus and Bands Perform at California's Great America

Last week, 73 Brandeis students donned their Brandeis band and chorus t-shirts and entered the turnstiles at California’s Great America with smiles beaming. The middle school jazz band, lower school chorus, and lower school band participated in Great America's Performance in the Plaza program. The students performed their full concert program for thousands of people enjoying the park. "Even though the sun was hot and beating down on the students, they did a great job performing for that many people, and they sounded great," says music teacher Kim Lostetter.

Once the concert was over and the instruments were loaded back on the vans, the students ate lunch on the grass and spent the rest of the afternoon enjoying the park in their chaperone groups. Adds Ms. Lostetter, "We wanted to give the students an opportunity to perform for others in a relaxed environment. It's so important to me as their director to give them ways to connect and celebrate all of their hard work and accomplishments." MORE PHOTOS
