Kindergarten Bake Sale Raises Over $400

Just before Thanksgiving, kindergarteners hosted a bake sale for the school community. To prepare for their bake sale, students wrote all of the signs, and “practiced their numbers we’ve been learning in class for the price tags,” says teacher Samantha Silvestri. “We also talked about hunger and how the money raised would be going to help people who are hungry. Once the bake sale was complete, students counted all of the money and the class talked about different types of coins and bills. Kindergarteners raised $468 to donate to the food pantry at Jewish Family and Children’s Services!

Adds Ms. Silvestri, “This was an exciting opportunity for the kindergarteners to be a part of their community, while at the same time learning many valuable lessons about doing good for their world, as well as spelling, math, and money skills. MORE PHOTOS
