We will be welcoming Schuyler Bailar as this fall’s equity & inclusion speaker on Thursday, October 3 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. in the gym. This parent evening will be rich with information and dialogue, and we invite everyone in our adult community to join us. Click here to RSVP!
Schuyler was the first openly transgender athlete to compete in an NCAA Division I men's sport (on the Harvard men’s swim team). His story focuses on the universal challenges of trying to "fit-in" in our media-rich world with integrity and authenticity. His talk will focus on his struggles and why he ultimately chose to put many potential accolades at risk to be true to himself. Because he has lived his life from many perspectives—woman, Korean American, mixed race, gay, trans, “Harvard white guy”—his story resonates with the young and old, and people from all walks of life. (For more information about Schuyler’s story, click here for a TED Talk he gave in 2018. He also contributed to the newly published anthology Fresh Ink).
