Students Celebrate Children’s Book Week

Established in 1919, Children’s Book Week is an annual weeklong celebration designed to inspire a love of reading in children and teens across the United States. This week, librarian Beckie Beeson organized a number of fun activities in the library for our Brandeis students to participate in. Students had the chance to create their own graphic novels, make bookmarks, write book reviews to be posted throughout the book stacks, and work on book-themed word searches. In addition, Ms. Beeson has challenged the Brandeis community—students, parents, faculty, and staff—to see how many books everyone can read this week. “It’s an exciting time in the library world,” explains Ms. Beeson, also alluding to the recent naming of the 2018 Newbery and Caldecott medals recipients. “This week in particular is meant to inspire kids not just to appreciate books now, but always, and to keep on reading!” MORE PHOTOS
