Congratulations to the Class of 2018!

Today's graduation and aliyah was both a joyful and a tear-filled celebration. The Class of 2018 was addressed by Head of School Dr. Dan Glass, Director of Middle School Dr. Sivan Tarle, Board Chair Howard Caro, and Rabbi Danny Gottlieb of Congregation Beth Israel Judea. Middle school social studies teacher and advisor Allie Stine shared words of advice for our graduates as they embark on their high school journey: "Never underestimate the power of an outline. Take electives, especially in areas that are new to you. Introduce yourself to students you don’t know. Be confident; your Brandeis experience will prove to be a valuable foundation for the challenges that you encounter in the next chapter of your education. And keep on questioning."

Following the "Portrait of the Class of 2018" slideshow and the presentation of diplomas, the Trebles (middle school chorus) joined with three returning alumnae (Joann B., Lilah F., and Diana Y., Class of 2016) to sing the song "One Voice," accompanied on guitar by eighth grader Joya T. Then came the aliyah of each grade, with each student in turn taking a pledge administered by Dr. Glass—"to be a leader in this community, to be a role model for kids younger than me," to "make every day matter by trying my best," and to "act kindly, with a courageous heart, toward a better world."

Before the full student body arrived for the graduation ceremony, graduates participated in a longtime Brandeis tradition, as well as a new tradition. The eighth graders gave their "Chain" addresses, in which each student addresses a classmate, reminiscing on the experiences they have shared over the years at Brandeis. Then, they did one final walk through campus and saw memento tables of their time at Brandeis, assembled by their parents. MORE PHOTOS
