School Cancelled on Friday, November 16 Due to Poor Air Quality
As noted in an email from Dr. Dan Glass earlier today, unfortunately, the AQI has worsened today, going across the line from unhealthy to very unhealthy. Even more unfortunately, forecasts show that tomorrow the air will be worse, potentially moving into the hazardous range with some of the worst air we have had yet since the fires broke out. Since late last night we have heard from schools on the west side of San Francisco who have made the decision to close tomorrow, including our near neighbor San Francisco State University. Because of all of the above, and rooted in our concern for our students' health and safety, we are cancelling school tomorrow and cancelling all athletics practices today.
Forecasts show the AQI improving into early next week, so at present we plan to hold school as planned on Monday and Tuesday. We will be in touch should that change.
