Kindergarteners Learn to Code

As part of Computer Science Education Month this month, kindergarteners have been introduced to some of the core concepts of coding and computer programming. “The students are learning the value of loops to help perform actions in a far more concise and efficient way,” explains technology integration specialist Leo Stern. “They are thoroughly engaged in coding activities, learning the value of trial and error and perseverance.” It is important for our kindergarteners to learn these basics so that, as the concepts they encounter become more sophisticated as they get older, they have the confidence to keep going, even when the task may be challenging. Adds Mr. Stern, “These activities are very rewarding and provide instantaneous feedback that is invaluable, while also helping to build their knowledge base.” MORE PHOTOS
