Kindergarteners Are Experts on the Solar System—and Beyond!

Kindergarteners are preparing this week to perform a verse play, Let’s Go Visit the Solar System, for their families tomorrow morning. “This is the final part of our science unit on the solar system,” explains teacher Jacqui Smith. “Acting and performing allow the students to build their confidence and work on their speech and public speaking.” The play also allows the students to demonstrate expertise on the solar system, as each student has a speaking role about either the sun, the moon, or one of the planets.

Exclaims Ms. Smith, “The students are ready to perform with gusto tomorrow morning and are proud to display their knowledge!” In addition to the play, students learned about the solar system by visiting the Chabot Space and Science Center last month, where they toured exhibits and learned about the planets.
