Brandeis Celebrates Purim!

On Friday, students, faculty, and staff celebrated Purim. The day began with mentors and mentees exchanging mishloach manot (gifts of food for friends). A school-wide costume parade followed, with students and faculty showing off their incredible costumes. Throughout the day students participated in a carnival and an art project creating groggers (noisemakers) and watched a magic show. In the afternoon, the eighth graders performed their Purim shpiel (story), both student-written and directed. Students, faculty, and staff came to school dressed as everything from fictional characters to Purim characters to animals. This year a special award was given out by the middle school Student Community Board recognizing creative homemade costumes made of recycled materials. Those costumes included cupcakes, hamentaschen, and even a light-up Sutro Tower! It was a great day of fun and celebration for our entire school community. MORE PHOTOS
