Brandeis Welcomes Grandparents and Special Friends to Campus

On Friday, March 24, Brandeis welcomed over 250 grandparents and special friends to campus for our annual Grandparents and Special Friends Day. The day was filled with intergenerational learning, Shabbat celebrations, and student performances. Students in the lower school chorus, middle school a capella group, and first grade were among the performers for the lunchtime gathering. The event also officially launched the Grandfriends Endowment Fund—with a generous lead gift from Al Friedman (grandparent to fifth graders Elie, Emma, Nathan, and Noa)—which will support annual programming around creativity, exploration beyond the walls of the school, and joyful moments.

“Grandparents and Special Friends Day is a reminder each year of the bonds we share from one generation to the next,” says Head of School Dr. Dan Glass. "It’s wonderful to see so many grandparents, aunts, uncles, and community members here setting an example for our students of strong connections and joy in learning.” One of the most meaningful components of our broader mission is the transmission of values from generation to generation (l’dor v’dor), and we’re reminded why every year through this special event.
