Ulpan Or Curriculum Puts Emphasis on Conversational Hebrew

One of the main goals of the Ulpan Or Hebrew curriculum is to teach students to translate English to Hebrew in their heads. To do this, students participate in a number of dialogues where they must translate a conversation from English to Hebrew. “My seventh grade students are acting out a dialogue from English to Hebrew,” says teacher Tammy Broner. “This is the final stage in this unit to improve their conversational skills and enhance their vocabulary.” Ulpan Or focuses on language acquisition through speaking and dialogue is immersed throughout the students’ learning. Adds Ms. Broner, “Ulpan Or, which translates to learning at the speed of light, helps teach students that anyone can study Hebrew and acquire the skills necessary for conversing in their daily lives.”
