These Are the Days You’ll Remember

Tania Lowenthal, Director of Admissions & Marketing

In the words of Natalie Merchant, “These are the days you’ll remember.” For us, these days of awe, between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, are a time to reflect, and yes, “remember,” in ways that are usually not part of our everyday experiences. Individually, and sometimes collectively, we use these days of awe to give deeper meaning to our lives, to make our days count, to make them matter.

Rabbi Alan Lew, z”l, wrote in his book, This Is Real and You Are Completely Unprepared, that the high holidays can provide an "experiential map of the journey that our souls are making throughout our life." He asks us to connect these days to how we are living our lives every day. At The Brandeis School of San Francisco, we strive to make it matter every day, taking part of that journey. During this 5780 year in particular, we are focusing on the fact that we ALL “Make it Matter”.

For us, the staff, faculty and families of The Brandeis School of San Francisco, it is a call to action:
  • For our school leaders who advance a strong, relevant curriculum and champion enduring values.
  • For our faculty who infuse our classes with renewed purpose and find ways to actively connect  our students to the material and to Jewsih values.
  • For our students who strive to do their best and don't take their education for granted.
  • And for our parents/guardians who thoughtfully invest in the lives and education of the children, sharing meaningful gifts of time, talent, energy and resources to contribute to our warm and vibrant community.
This is all real and I hope you do feel a little bit more prepared because we all make it matter together. Next time you drive by our school's parking lot, look up and notice, maybe even with awe, our new banners, serving as reminders of how We ALL Make It Matter!
