MinecraftEdu Enhances Fourth Grade Learning of California Missions

The fourth grade California Mission Project has evolved this year to include the integration of technology throughout. Using MinecraftEdu, the education version of Minecraft, students have been creating interactive three-dimensional models of the California missions. Minecraft is akin to a computer-generated Lego world that allows students to build interactive 3D models with a variety of materials. This Minecraft project also dovetails with the current fourth grade math unit, which focuses on area and perimeter. "In another successful integration of technology into the curriculum, the students have been applying their knowledge of these math concepts into their designs," says technology specialist Leo Stern. "The students have been incredibly motivated and engaged thus far, and the creations have been rather impressive." MORE PHOTOS
