Director of Technology Nicholas Cole-Farrell Nominated as a White House Champion of Change for Making

In 2014, President Obama launched the Nation of Makers initiative, an all-hands-on-deck call to make sure more students, entrepeneurs, and Americans of all backgrounds have access to a new class of technologies that are enabling more Americans to design, build, and manufacture just about anything. Building on that momentum, the White House celebrated the National Week of Making by calling on people to identify Champions of Change who are working to make advances in technology, platforms, and educational opportunities that empower Americans to become tinkerers, inventors, and entrepeneurs.

Our very own Director of Technology Nicholas Cole-Farrell is one of 600 nominees nationwide, of which 10 will be selected and honored at the White House on June 17. Sandee Bisson, media resource specialist, and Colin Rigby, systems administrator, nominated Mr. Cole-Farrell because "Nicholas is a true maker in mind, heart, and soul," says Ms. Bisson. "Not only did he work with Dr. Glass to fund and plan our CREATE and BUILD spaces, but he rolled up his sleeves to do the physical, hands-on work to make these spaces come to life. His vision and passion for making and tinkering infuse every corner of these spaces and guide every lesson and activity that occurs within these walls." Mr. Cole-Farrell is definitely a champion of change at Brandeis!
