Kindergarteners Celebrate a Successful First Year

On Friday, June 9, our kindergarten students regaled their proud families with a performance of songs in both Hebrew and English. Kindergarten teachers spoke of the work the students completed this year and the meaning of this celebration; said teacher Elana Lahav, “This is a celebration of an important milestone of accomplishments and achievements, and a showcase of what the kindergarten students learned this year in all disciplines.” Following the performance and just before receiving their certificates of completion, the class shared with the audience a video, “Why We Love Kindergarten.” Then Head of School Dr. Dan Glass spoke to the students and parents, reading the Wallace Stevens poem “Earthly Anecdote.” Director of Lower School Jenny Rinn followed and said, “Every exit is a new entry to somewhere else. For you, kindergarteners, your new entry is first grade!” And finally, Director of Jewish Learning Debby Arzt-Mor led the audience in a rousing "Yasher koach!” (meaning "Great Job!") for our youngest students.
